Eagles' Reid Addresses Flap With Owens
BETHLEHEM, Pa. Philadelphia Eagles coach Andy Reid spoke publicly for the first time Sunday since Terrell Owens gave his side of the heated dispute Wednesday that prompted the coach to send the wide receiver home for a week. - NFL Football -
Reid said he does not anticipate talking to Owens again before Wednesday, when Owens is scheduled to return to the team, joining it at the NovaCare Complex in South Philadelphia.
Thursday, Owens called Reid "a controlling person" and referred to quarterback Donovan McNabb as "a hypocrite" whom he had no desire to talk to. He also accused offensive coordinator Brad Childress of antagonizing him.
"Like I said, I am not going to get into anything with the media and so on," Reid said. "Obviously, I don't like our players doing that, but that's as much as I'm going to get into."
Reid insisted that Owens' presence did not wear on him during the Eagles' stay at Lehigh.
"It really hasn't," he said. "I take care of those things that I can control, and I can't control what he says off the property here. - NFL Football -
"Obviously, you don't want to say things about a coach or another player. But I don't worry about all that -- all the distractions. You just put those aside, and you concentrate on those things and those people that are out here working to win a championship. That is what this team has done, and that is what the coaches have done."
